International Students

Vancouver Metal Art School is very much interested into teaching students from all over the world because of the varieties of cultures they add into our school environment as well as the wealth of culture backgrounds every student can share with others.

Our cultural background is our base on what we study this old traditional trade of Jewellery Design.

From the May 01, 2010 enrolment date on we offer every International Student which First Language is not English an "English as a Second Language" (ESL) Course as an entry point for the Jewellery Design study at VMAS. (please ask for the specific offer and conditions)

Miscellaneous issues regarding studying in British Columbia and Canada

An international student living and studying in Canada must possess a valid ‘Study Permit’. Application for a Study Permit and an Entry Visa (where required) must be made at a Canadian Embassy or Consulate before your arrival.

Please note, it is important to apply early for your visa. For a list of Canadian Government Offices abroad, see the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade website at:

www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca./world/embassies/menu-en.asp.

For more information on Study Permits and to find out whether you require a visa to enter Canada, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at www.cic.gc.ca.

When you take the "Letter of Acceptance"  to a Canadian embassy, consulate or high commission, you will also be asked for proof of financial support and completion of a medical examination.

The cost of a Study Permit is approximately $125 CAD.

All international students must have a valid Study Permit (SP) to study in Canada. Most students receive a SP when they first enter Canada, for example at the Vancouver International Airport. An Immigration official gives the student the SP after signing, dating, and stamping the document. Sometimes this SP specifies certain terms and conditions about the student's stay in Canada, such as how long one can study or at what type of educational institution one may study.

Many students also require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) before they can enter Canada. Students must apply for the TRV when they apply for a SP at a Canadian Embassy. The cost of a Temporary Resident Visa is approximately $150 CAD for a multiple entry visa, and $75 for a single entry visa. Students should check the Citizenship and Immigration website to determine if they require a TRV.
